Sunshine Psychiatry

PSYCHIATRY LOCATED IN GATEWAY, FORT MYERS, FL

About Sunshine Psychiatry

Sunshine Psychiatry provides compassionate mental health care to children, teens, and adults in Fort Myers, Florida, allowing them to choose in-person care and online telepsychiatry visits.

Rosa Smith, MN, PMHNP, APRN-BC, founded the practice to redefine and transform patient care. She saw too many practices pushing patients through the process, getting them in and out quickly with a prescription in hand.

Patients seek care at Sunshine Psychiatry because it was designed to do the opposite. Rosa is joined by a staff of caring psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNP), psychiatrists, and exceptional staff dedicated to spending time with each patient and providing personalized care.

The team devotes one hour to each initial consultation and spends at least 30 minutes during follow-up appointments. Their comprehensive treatments include therapy and medication management but with the minimum amount of medication needed to achieve results. They also offer genetic testing to target the best medication and dose for each person’s unique DNA.

Sunshine Psychiatry diagnoses and treats the full range of mental health disorders, from anxiety and depression to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and bipolar disorder. They also provide outpatient treatment for substance use disorders and addiction, using FDA-approved medications like Suboxone® to ensure patients safely detox without cravings or withdrawal symptoms.

As specialists in child psychiatry, they have extensive experience in therapies appropriate to each child’s age and stage of development.

They use the innovative QbTest® to objectively test and measure the core symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Then, they develop customized treatment plans to help each child (and adult) with ADHD overcome their challenges.

The caring and nurturing environment created by the Sunshine Psychiatry team is evident as soon as patients enter the clinic. That same attention goes into the treatments they provide for each patient, as they focus on practical, solution-focused approaches that improve each person’s ability to thrive in life.

To learn more about their services, call Sunshine Psychiatry today or use online booking to request an in-person or telepsychiatry appointment.

Mood Disorders
If you have a mood disorder, your general emotional state or mood is distorted or inconsistent with your circumstances and interferes with your ability to function. You may be extremely sad, empty or irritable (depressed), or you may have periods of depression alternating with being excessively happy (mania). Mood disorders may increase your risk of suicide if untreated. Your mental health is very important to us.
