Nelson Monroy, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist at Sunshine Psychiatry in Fort Myers, Florida. A proud member of the practice since its founding in 2018, he currently serves as one of its collaborating doctors.

Dr. Monroy was born in El Salvador, Central America, and is fluent in Spanish and English. He attended the Universidad de El Salvador, earning his doctorate in 1987.

After coming to the United States, he joined a Family Practice residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Michigan State University sponsored this prestigious program. He then completed his Psychiatry residency at the Medical College of Virginia (now VCU Medical Center).

Dr. Monroy provides outpatient psychiatric care to adults and children with acute or chronic mental health problems, psychopharmacologic treatment, treatment planning, team reviews, and referrals for both in-patient and outpatient settings.
